The two were a little wasted, mostly because it was a New Year’s party. “You’re gonna be my New Year’s kiss, right?” Joe slurs as they stand outside his balcony, the starry night sky being polluted with rainbow fireworks. Joe’s girlfriend giggles, swirling around her third drink, “You bet.” The team of people behind them started counting down, and Joe and his girlfriend turned to each other at three, and for a sober moment Joe muttered, “Love you baby. Happy New Year.” And their lips succumbed to each other as the staccato of fireworks matched the beats of their hearts.
